Abstract

Historically contextualizing museum spaces has been a challenge due to the little information that has been able to investigate about the constitution of some museums in Ecuador, if anything has been obtained it is about the first National Museum that was located in the city of Quito from 1839. As a result of the independence processes that began to become visible in the city of Guayaquil and due to an important commercial boom of many products that began to enter through the port, the  Industrial Museum was created, represented by representative objects of the nation and of its inhabitants gradually become stronger and richer and so in 1908 it became the Municipal Museum of Guayaquil whose objective was to show the relics and memories of our ancestors. Through this research it is intended to reflect on institutions that seek to create a feeling of identity that allows maintaining the heritage legacy as evidence of territorial identity with critical pedagogies that turn these spaces into articulated participatory sites, it is also important to know how it has supported the local, provincial and national government during these construction processes of many of these museums.
