Abstract

The present investigation was conducted with the objective of determining the existence of elements of transnationalism within the second generations of Ecuadorian migrants residing in the city of Genoa in Italy. The theoretical bases from which we started were the concepts of  transnationalism and second generations of migrants, the first characterized by returning the centrality to the migrant, to their processes and perceptions within the migratory processes and which also allows us to reconstruct the reality of the interconnections between the countries of origin and destination based on the relational and cultural practices of migrants. To conduct the study, forty surveys were applied to Ecuadorian and South American students from two schools in the city of Genoa, the Marco Polo Gastronomic Public School, and the Fe y Alegría Private School. The visits made by young people to the country of origin of the migratory flow, as well as the frequency of communications made with people residing in Ecuador and the development of friendly relations between contemporaneous compatriots, allow us to demonstrate the existence of significant ties between young people from the second generations with the country of origin of migratory flows.
