This study analyzes the impact of legal deficiencies on the provision of palliative care in Ecuador. Objective: Determine how gaps in regulations affect the quality and access to palliative care, especially in patients with advanced and terminal chronic diseases. Methodology: A documentary analysis of Ecuadorian legislation related to palliative care and semi-structured interviews with health professionals and patients were carried out. The data collected was qualitatively analyzed to identify the main legal and regulatory obstacles that limit the provision of these services. Results: Research shows that the lack of clear policies and adequate funding negatively affects access to palliative care. In addition, insufficient training of medical personnel and a lack of knowledge of rights among patients were identified, which increases barriers to accessing adequate care. Conclusion: Legal deficiencies in Ecuador generate limited palliative care coverage, affecting the quality of life of patients and their family environment. Legislative reform is recommended that establishes clear guidelines and financing to guarantee universal access to these services.
